More than 400 German soldiers rest in the cemetery, which was established in 1916. Their names are immortalized on concrete grave crosses. The cemetery has been almost completely preserved and was repaired by the Volksbund in 2001 and then subjected to regular maintenance. Even before the repair by the Volksbund, Lithuanian citizens decorated the graves with flowers. In 1991, a sculptor from Zarasai erected a new wooden cross in place of the old, crumbling high cross. A wrought-iron cross, designed by the artist Inge Talmantiene, now adorns another memorial site in the cemetery. The soldiers' graves are located in the Roman Catholic civilian cemetery. This is located on the Zarasai-Utena road (A6/E262).
