Part of the municipal cemetery became a place of honor for 132 war dead of the Second World War. Soldiers from Salzschlirfer military hospitals, returnees from the LVA Hesse auxiliary hospital and displaced persons and refugees from the war from the IRO homes (IRO: International Refugees Organization). The town took over the cemetery in 1949. One year later, the Volksbund began planning. As a result of subsidence in the grave areas, further work was necessary, which the Volksbund carried out in 1971/72. The inauguration took place on November 19, 1972. Pictures 2009 Jürgen Winkelbach
