On April 20, 1945, the Landesschützenbataillon (Rifle Battalion) stationed in Arzberg put up considerable resistance against the advancing Americans. During the battle, 40 people, including civilians, lost their lives. 24 Landesschützen are buried in the collective grave in the town cemetery.
After 1985, the Landesschütze Peter Schiebener was laid to rest in a field grave at the edge of the forest near the Flittermühle.
From the main gate, you can already see the tall trees of life behind the monument on the left-hand side. Behind the monument are two gravestones from the I. World War I.
