Tairowa

The prisoner of war cemetery in Tairowa was restored in 1998. Around 45 prisoners of war are buried in this cemetery, which covers an area of 1,500 square meters and is surrounded by a basalt wall. The central memorial is a 4.5 meter high granite cross. The graves are marked by groups of symbolic crosses and the high cross also bears the memorial message: HERE REST POWS OF WAR, VICTIMS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR
