To commemorate the victims of war and tyranny, there are 3 memorials at Saalfeld cemetery with documented numbers of victims and graves.German war dead cemetery130 people are buried here who died as a result of the war between 1940 and 1945. The victims are mainly civilians, including children and unknown soldiers. <>bBombing victimsA total of 234 men, women and children fell victim to the bombing raids on the town of Saalfeld in 1944/45. 128 of these victims are buried here. Soviet Grove of Honour76 Soviet soldiers, prisoners of war and forced labourers who died or were killed rest here in individual graves, as well as 19 Soviet citizens who were shot by fascists near Unterwellenborn on 12 April 1944 in a collective grave under the obelisk.
