The fallen from the battles on August 22 and 23, 1914 were buried in five cemeteries, three in the village of Maissin alone. They were called Terrassenfriedhof, Langfriedhof and Rundbau-Friedhof.
Today, only the Rundbau cemetery still exists under the name Maissin-National. The Rundbau was built by German soldiers at the end of the cemetery.
There are now 513 Germans and 283 French soldiers from the First World War buried here.
