According to the information available to us and new research findings, a total of 41 German and 2 British soldiers from the Second World War are buried in the old cemetery next to the church. In detail: - next to the church, a well-kept cemetery with 41 German soldiers who died or were wounded days later during the fighting in this area from April 20-30, 1945, 4 of whom remain unknown - to the left, now marked by a small memorial stone, the graves of 2 British airmen. Their Wellington bomber was shot down near Ganderkesee in 1940 and those killed in the crash landing were subsequently buried anonymously in this cemetery. The British Wargrave Commission was also unaware of these graves. Photos: Volker Fleig 2013
