The cemetery, which was consecrated on 28.07.1962, is located on a hill,
the Karberg, southeast of the isthmus between the Schlei, which is open to the Baltic Sea
and the inland water "Haddebyer Noor" opposite the town of Schleswig.
On an area of approx. 13,000 square meters, 1,124 war dead rest in five fields,
including over 300 members of other nations and 274 men, women and children
Children who lost their lives uninvolved in the fighting of the 2nd World War
lost their lives.
The war cemetery on the Karberg is a place of prayer due to its embedding in the
Landscape on the Schlei, it is an ideal place for prayer and contemplation. The
The centerpiece is an irregularly shaped hall (10x10 m) with an as if
