The German soldiers who fell in the heavy defensive battles in the winter of 1944/45 along the Ahr were buried where they fell. From the cemeteries in Ahrdorf, Ahrhütte, Blankenheimersdorf, Dollendorf, Lommersdorf, Nettesheim and Ripsdorf, they were transferred to the war cemetery next to the old pilgrimage church, which was inaugurated on 11th September 1966, to ensure their permanent resting place.09.this war cemetery is the resting place of 146 war dead from various nations of the Second World War. 132 Germans 1 former Soviet Union 13 Others Union 13 others
