In section 12 of the forest cemetery in Blankenburg (Harz) lie 90 German victims of the First World War who died between November 9, 1914 and December 18, 1920. At the end of the cemetery is an obelisk depicting a sword. The following inscription can be read on the pedestal below: "No one has greater love than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13." The reverse of the pedestal bears the inscription: "Loyalty for loyalty! 1914 - 1918" There are also victims of the Second World War in the cemetery.
