The cemetery was established in 1930 as a memorial for the fallen of the First World War. Numerous German soldiers who died here during the Second World War were buried at Kolmeshöhe. The Kolmeshöhe Cemetery of Honour, a memorial to the fallen of the First and Second World Wars, attracted worldwide interest when US President Ronald Reagan visited Bitburg together with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl on 5 May 1985 to lay a wreath at the cemetery tower. The war cemetery on Kolmeshöhe was dedicated in 1959. Photos and text (excerpts): Dieter Schilling
