Total Occupation: 2 fatalities
Total Occupation: 2 fatalities
The state-owned Pankow XII cemetery had been used as an institutional cemetery for the Buch hospitals since May 27, 1908. in 1912, the city of Berlin took over the administration of the 14.3-hectare cemetery, even though it was still located outside the city limits at the time. The original cemetery hall was damaged during the Second World War and subsequently repaired, but burned down in 1949 and was replaced by a new building inaugurated in 1954. in 2008, it was decided to partially close the cemetery, which had thus been reduced by 5.75 hectares. 183 soldiers who died in the Buch hospitals during the First World War were buried here. The war cemeteries for the two world wars consist of 1,579 individual graves and a collective grave area of 30 m². (Martin Bayer, 20.04.2020)
