Total Occupation: 23 fatalities

The Alt-Buckow village churchyard is located directly next to the almost unchanged Buckow village church, built around 1230-1250. The medieval fieldstone church is located in the historic core of the Anger village of Alt-Buckow in the Buckow district of Berlin's Neukölln borough. The church was damaged by an air mine on September 2, 1943, but was largely restored to its original state. While the organ was destroyed during the Second World War, the four bells were collected during the war and were to be melted down. Two of the four bells, the oldest bell in Berlin, created around 1250, and the "Great Bell", cast on May 6, 1320, were discovered intact in the Hamburg bell collection warehouse in 1948. The two bells were transported back to their place of origin during the Soviet Berlin blockade with the Allied airlift to encourage the people in West Berlin, which was under lockdown. There are more than 20 graves of victims of the Second World War in the cemetery. (Martin Bayer, 17.04.2020)
