Bergen lies on the innermost bay of the Byfjord, which forms a natural harbour at this point. The Norwegian government buried German casualties from the Bergen area between 1954 and 1955. The graves are marked by granite crosses with the names of the dead. The cemetery was dedicated on August 28, 1960. 1,085 fallen soldiers from the Second World War rest here.
