Total Occupation: 1.039 fatalities
Originally created in 1927 as a cemetery for the dead of the First World War with a memorial for those who died in the Bamberg garrison, it was enlarged after the Second World War. A sculpture depicting a larger-than-life lying dead soldier forms the end of the complex. Sculptures symbolizing "War of the Homeland" and "Captivity" were later placed on both sides of the memorial.
