Total Occupation: 3 fatalities

Total Occupation: 3 fatalities

According to the information available to us, a total of 16 dead from the Second World War and the National Socialist tyranny rest in a very well-kept small burial ground at the rear left of the cemetery. In detail: - 2 German soldiers from the Kriegsmarine who were driven to the banks of the Elbe in 1941 and 1944 and buried here - 1 Soviet prisoner of war whose name and the circumstances of his death are not known. - Memorial stone for 13 infants and toddlers of Polish and Soviet forced labourers who died of illness and deliberate neglect in the so-called "Balje-Hörne care facility for foreign children" between 1942 and early 1945 and were buried here. The memorial stone, which was only erected a few years ago, only mentions the names of the children but not the place and reasons for their early death! Photos: Volker Fleig 2014
