German military cemetery 1914/18 Cemetery size: 782 m² The cemetery is surrounded by an earth wall. Opposite the entrance (iron gate and natural stone walls) is a memorial (185 x 120 x 65 cm) with the text: GERMAN - WARRIORS' CEMETERY KAKAUL 1914 - 1918 156 GERMAN SOLDIERS 6 RUSSIAN SOLDIERS R. INF. RGT. 35 LDW. INF. RGT. 33 LDW. INF. RGT. 84 FIELD . ARTL. RGT. 176 R. INF. RGT. 254 R. FIELD. ARTL. R. 65 INF. RGT. 426 R. INF. RGT. 3 On both sides of the footpath there are 29 concrete slabs with the names, unit and dates of death of the fallen. The memorial states that 156 German and 6 Russian soldiers are buried in the cemetery and 166 names of German soldiers and 6 names of unknown Russians are engraved on the grave slabs. In total there are 172 burials. In the cemetery list of the State Archives of Latvian History from 1918, 172 known German and 6 unknown Russian soldiers are mentioned, 6 German officers have been repatriated.
