In 1957/58, the Volksbund and the state government permanently laid out the graves of 42 German soldiers of the 1st and 74 of the 2nd World War in the main cemetery. At that time, wooden crosses marked the graves. In the middle of the forest, on the Wegscheide, lies the so-called Russian cemetery. This is where 1,430 victims of the Second World War rest, most of whom died as prisoners of war in a stalag (main camp) on the Wegscheide as a result of a dysentery epidemic. English and French prisoners of war who were originally buried here were transferred to their home countries after the war. Also on Wegscheide, next to the Frankfurt school children's vacation village, is the former Wegscheide camp cemetery; 32 displaced persons from eastern German territories who died in the camp after the war are buried here. The grounds were redesigned in 1966/67.
