A beautifully paved path leads in a gentle curve to the war cemetery. Seven rough-hewn stone crosses symbolize the seven years of suffering during the Second World War. The site is laid out in terraces. The names of the dead can be read in raised letters on horizontal stone slabs. A sarcophagus-like stone tomb forms the center of the site. The inscription reads: "Those who carry the future within them may conjure up the dead." Young people have engraved the motto for their fallen schoolmates who lie here. Underneath it reads: "63 German soldiers rest here. They fell on April 6, 1945, including nine pupils from Duisburg's Steinbart-Gymnasium and 16 unknown soldiers".
