Bad Hersfeld, Städt. Fdh.

This military cemetery is mainly home to German soldiers who died in Hersfeld military hospitals. It is located on Meisebacher Straße, almost in the center of the town. After thorough preparations, which began in 1949, the cemetery was expanded in its current form in 1956/57 and provided with permanent grave markers. The inauguration took place on 22 September 1957. Beiershausen district In 1960/61, the state government and the Volksbund expanded a cemetery for 453 foreigners - mainly Poles and Russians - who died during the Second World War and opened it to the public on 14 May 1961.
