Bad Harzburg - Harlingerode, Städt Ortsteilfriedhof

According to the information available to us, a total of 15 dead of various nationalities, including 14 victims of National Socialist tyranny, rest in this cemetery in a small, well-kept area at the entrance to the cemetery on the left. In detail: - 1 Belgian, - 2 members of the former Yugoslavia, - 1 Hungarian, - 9 members of the former Soviet Union, - 1 Pole, and - 1 German soldier from Schlewecke in a grave in the cemetery area. Unfortunately, the memorial stone with its succinct inscription says nothing about the identity and fate of the dead prisoners of war and forced labourers, although the names of those buried here are listed in the 1971 burial list. They died between 1941 and 1945. A name plaque would at least restore the dignity of the dead. Photos: Volker Fleig 2013
