General information The park-like cemetery was laid out in 1874 and has been located in the city of Augsburg since 1911. Extensive new construction work was carried out between 1913 and 1915. Over the years, the Westfriedhof cemetery was repeatedly extended. Worth knowing A burial ground for around 400 soldiers and a large number of bomb victims was laid out at the Westfriedhof cemetery during the Second World War. After the war, a further 500 victims were buried in makeshift graves. There are currently 2028 dead from the First and Second World Wars buried here, including 453 foreigners and 235 concentration camp victims.
