"Allersberg was shelled by American tanks from April 20 to 23, 1945 (...) and 75 percent of it was destroyed. There were 20 victims from Allersberg and Altenfelden, who were buried in a collective grave at the entrance to the cemetery on Nürnberger Straße after the end of the fighting. (...) A simple stone bears the inscription: 'In memory of the victims of the fighting in Allersberg 20 - 23 April 1945'. 50 years ago, to mark the end of the war, the market town had the collective grave completely redesigned in 1995. Ten square brass plaques with the names of the 20 victims were set into rough-hewn granite slabs to bring the dead out of their anonymity. The work was completed by May 8, 1995, the day the war ended 50 years ago. "Description from the following source:Book "Mahnmale zum Frieden", ISBN 978-3-9807896-8-4, publisher: Landkreis Roth.
