The war graves agreement between Kazakhstan and Germany was signed on April 10, 1995. The decree on the agreement of April 10, 1995 between the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on war graves of April 15, 1996, came into force on June 7, 1996.
According to archive documents, there were 86 prisoner of war cemeteries in Kazakhstan. Only 12 have been preserved, and the Commission has been able to restore 7 of them so far.
